Detailed description

The villa lies in the upper part of the village of Praiano in the Amalfi Coast in a panoramic position with peaceful views of the church and the square where locals sit and chat till late in the summer night. It can also be reached by car. In the little piazza next to the entrance our guests have the use of a covered parking space. This old building, which was probably part of a convent, has been recently renovated and divided into two independent parts, one of which is occasionally inhabited by the owner. Both of them have independent entrances and gardens, and the swimming-pool is private. Outside, Villa Aristide has a very elegant aspect, and on the inside the furnishings are very comfortable and of high-quality. It has a dishwasher, washing-machine, satellite-TV and stereo with CD-player. The modern and functional bathrooms also reflect the general high-quality of the villa. Both from the garden and from the large terrace furnished with tables and chairs you can enjoy a spectacular view of the sea and the gulf of Salerno. A grocery is closed to the villa and the nearest restaurant at 500 meters. A pleasant walk of about fifteen minutes down ancient stairways and silent lanes will take you to the attractive beach at Praiano (in the summer months there is a convenient public transport service and the bus stop in close to the villa), where besides the pebble beach and a romantic and panoramic path carved out of the rock, you will also find excellent restaurants, boats for hire and a sub-aqua school. Positano is about 7 Kms away, and can also be reached by public transport, which is the best way to avoid the problem of finding a parking space. Praiano is a quiet village with all of the services you might need and is in a central position for visiting all of the Amalfi Coast.

First of all - this was an amazing place, with just a couple of negatives. It was one of the best vacations I have ever taken, and I would definitely consider staying in the same place again when I come back to Italy (and yes, I believe this was much better than staying in Positano which in my mind is more of a tourist trap – Praiano is more where the locals live which is exactly what I was looking for). At the end of the trip, my wife said that a little part of her heart will always be in Praiano! Positives about the Villa - absolutely beautiful! Amazing views, very romantic, just cannot say enough. The location in the town of Praiano was great - close to a couple local stores where we could get groceries for breakfast (fresh bread, juice, etc.), close to a square (Piazza), and just steps from a bus stop that could take us to the nearby town of Positano. Swimming pool was semi-private (shared with the owner as he I believe uses the other Villa that is adjacent to the Villa Aristide, however he was not there, so it was "private" for my family). Parking space in the locked garage was a bonus, as parking is hard to come by in the area. Negatives - I was informed that air conditioning was installed in 2012 (prior to our arrival) and that we would have Wi-Fi available. Unfortunately, no air conditioning (and July, time of our stay, is definitely warm), and the Wi-Fi was a long hike away at a cafe that had free Wi-Fi only when you bought something. Also, I do agree on the comment from one of the older reviews that the beds were not very comfortable. However, having visited Europe many times in the past (actually I lived in Europe for a few years), the beds were on par with the rest of the continent, which is not saying much. But overall, I was “OK” with them.

Almost everything about this beautifully located house was perfect. It sits right in the center of Praiano, with peaceful views of the church and the square where children play and locals sit to chat until late on summer nights. The pool is small, but just right for cooling off, and the private parking spot is an essential feature in this hillside town. We loved the view and must've taken 20 photos. Unfortunately there were two issues that made it hard to relax on our vacation. The first was that there is no AC, which we knew about, and it was incredibly hot - in the 90's. With just three old fans, one of which barely worked, it was hard to sleep. The second was that the beds were all cot beds on metal stands, with thin, hard mattresses and rock-hard synthetic pillows. None of the furniture was much to look at, but the beds were the worst beds we've ever experienced. Every time someone turned over, there was a blast of creaking noise. We ended up putting the lounge chair cushions on two of the beds under the sheets (it helped a little) and two of the kids slept on the sofas, which were one notch up from the beds. Such a shame, as the house was really a jewel.

We spent a wonderful week at Villa Aristide. It's a classic Amalfi Coast villa in a great location (no steps fr parking or bus) with convenient access to the market. Praiano is a great location that provides a good feel of the area without being in the heavy tourist areas of Positano or Amalfi but within easy visiting range.

This is a really beautiful villa with stunning views. My only citicism would be that it doesn't have any air conditioning which is surprising given he quality of everything else.

Our family of eight spent a wonderful week at Villa Duomo. The house was great with wonderful views. We were provided with changes of linen and the house beautifully cleaned. It was withen walking distance to the centrer of town, but one could catch the local bus at certain times. The pool was a pleasure and enjoyed by the children....We would all go back again.
