Villa Arzilla is a hidden gem, one of the most charming villas on the Amalfi Coast and the winner of the most outstanding view of Positano. It also offers a free privatr access to the beach and has a small but generous garden of figs, lemons, pomegranate and plenty more. A vacation dream house.

Villa Arzilla 1 was picture perfect with multiple outdoor gathering areas and views of Capri and I Galli. The owner was more than gracious and helped us with transportation and meals. He even took us personally to town for grocery shopping on arrival. The location is between Positano and Praiano. Those willing to walk the 2.5 miles to Positano can avoid the bus wait though the bus stop is very convenient to the Villa. Praiano is much closer to walk. Just know that the roads and shoulders are narrow. The Villa did have ants but only in the kitchen and patios. It is my understanding the ants are a problem all over Amalfi Coast. Loved this villa!

It was a beautiful villa - the views and space was amazing- especially the outdoor patios! I never dreamed I would be able to stay in such a wonderful place! Our only advice is to be aware that the Villa is not directly in Positano, so be prepared to stop by a grocery store on your way!

Villa Arzilla 1, was absolutely spectacular with picture postcard views all around us. The property is so spacious with so many communal outdoor spaces that there was plenty of room for our group of 8 adults. The owner, Salvatore was a special treat, giving us recommendations & advice, administering to our internet needs and even taking us to the market. The villa was amazingly clean and the outdoor areas also very well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies, allowing us to dine outside with breathtaking views. The During our 1 week stay, we all traversed the 500, closer to 600 steps to the private rock beach 3 times. The steps are easy to navigate and plenty of rest stops along the way. We were especially delighted how nice it was to swim in the sea and lounge on the large flat rock. There is a ladder for easy access to the sea and and umbrella to add to our comfort. It was very helpful to have parking at the Villa, as that seems to be in very tight supply in Positano. The bust is literally right accross the street as well. Villa Arzilla 1 was the highlight of our Italy trip. As we look through our pictures we realized we did not get a picture of Salvatore, and his lovely family. We may just have to come back! Thank you Salvatore, for sharing your wonderful Villa.

We have just returned from a week in this beautiful villa and it was truly amazing. The view was one of the most amazing and the accommodation was spacious and very comfortable. The whole area was great to visit but we loved getting back to our own private part of the amalfi coast to enjoy this very special place! The buses stopped just near to the gate so getting around was easy even on the days we did not take the car out! Salvatore who owned the villa could not have been more helpful advising us on the local area and giving us an insight into Italian life! I feel privileged to have stayed in this most beautiful villa and would definatly visit again and would not hesitate to recommend it!

We truly enjoyed this magic place. It has the charm of olden times, while offering most of the amenities we are used to in the USA. The layout of the house with its large and well decorated terraces offered ample space for our family of 6. The view from any of them is breathtaking and unique in the world. The 600 plus steps down ( and up ) to the big rocks down by the sea were good exercise and well worth the effort of "owning " your very own cliff to go swimming and snorkeling, well worth the effort. Salvatore, the owner of this paradise, was a pleasure to communicate with and very helpful in making this one of our best vacations ever. BTW La Taverna del Leone offers exquisite dinners with excellent service and authentic Italian cuisine and is just a few minutes from the house.

My husband and I spent 7 days, with two other couples, in early June at Arzilla 1. The villa exceeded our expectations. Salvatore, the owner, was most accommodating. He allowed us several hours to rest after our long journey prior to taking us to the market for groceries. He had arranged dinner reservations that night at his brother's nearby restaurant. Our group walked down to dinner, but was provided transportation back to the villa. We used this restaurant several other nights for pizza and salads which we enjoyed at the villa. The villa was perfect for our three couples. The location was centrally located between Positano and Priano making it ideal in touring adjacent villages along the coast. The views from the villa's bedroom windows, as well as all outdoor verandas are amazing. The bus stop is located just outside the property's secured gate. We did not rent a car, but used public transportation the majority of our trip, including to Pompeii and Vietri. We visited most every city, from Sorrento to Vietri, along the coast. The area our villa was located surpassed them all. We would definitely return to Arzilla 1. The amalfi coast is one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

We enjoyed two terrific weeks at Arzilla 1. Salvatore was an excellent host, even waiting extra time at our meeting point (we took a wrong turn on our drive from Naples). The villa was better than what is in the pictures! Marvelous views, nicely appointed, and very clean. Thank you, Salvatore, for allowing us to spend two wonderful weeks in your Villa... Nick Girardi

Villa Arzilla is well above what you can see in the pictures. It's very comfortable, very well equipped, with enough space for +6 persons moving around and with amazing views from all the bedrooms and the terraces. The private acces to the sea is really unbelievable. We spent a week with my family and we all would be very happy to retun to Villa Arzilla again.

Loved Villa Arzilla 1. We had a great time. Some things that would be good to know are: a car might be useful, as it is 4KM to Positano, though the local bus runs right in front of the villa about every 1 1/4 hrs, which we used many days. The terraces and view were spectacular. We were there for the the Feast of St. Peter"s and after the music ended around midnight, there were spectacular fireworks off a barge right in front of us. The steps to the pirvate access to the sea were long, but doable. We had a great week there and Salvatore was very hospitable and gave us lots of good information. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

We had a wonderful week's stay at Villa Arzilla 1 and 2. We rented both villas for our extended family. The various patios were wonderful to take in the stunning view and sunshine. Villas were spacious, comfortable and ever so clean along with a gracious host. Our only complaint was the lack of hot water for a shower. It was more 'miss' than 'hit' with the shower. Salvatore is so very lucky to have this outlook and property 24/7. If ever in Positano again we would most definitely use the villas.

The pictures of this villa only show half the beauty of what you actually walk into. When we arrived at the villa we truly thought we were in paradise. The property owner is friendly, informative, kind and a very generous host while staying at his property without being intrusive. From a few of the outside terraces, you can see the entire town of Positano. We considered staying at a property in Positano, but are elated we stayed at Villas Arzilla instead. The local bus stop was a short walk from the property and in minutes we could be in Positano or any of the the nearby towns on the Amalfi coast. Our only regret is that we only chose to stay for a week. I can't say enough wonderful things about our trip and the lovely villa we were lucky enough to stay at.

This was a great place to spend a week on the Amalfi Coast for our party of 6 (4 adults/2 kids aged 9 and 11). It was well positioned in between Positano (4km) and Praino (2km) and provided parking which as a big plus. The place you meet Salvatore at so he can take you to the villa is actually his brother's restaurant which was fabulous and just down the road - we ate from there at least 3 or 4 times and they deliver as well! In fact, when 2 of our party arrived by bus and were dropped off at the wrong place, Antonio (the brother) came and picked them up! Very nice people who care about making your stay a great experience. The bedrooms are roomy enough, the kitchen was good but really, you spend all your time outside as there are around 5 different 'relaxation' areas to soak in the sun and admire the incredible view over the water and Positano. It's over 500 steps down to the water which actually was a good thing given you want to eat so much of the great food! Couple items that could have made it even better - Wi Fi and better hot water pressure in the kitchen although the bathrooms were fine. All in all, a great choice that we would recommend and return to if we had the opportunity.

An amazing vacation! 'Villa Arzilla 1' is just PERFECT for 3 couples. Location is closer to Praiano (~20 min walk) than to Positano's town center (~40 min walk) - but the good news is that there's a bus stop right outside the villa, for those who don't wish to walk :) There's ~550 steps down to the private beach - which after Day 2, we all found to be a much appreciated workout following the many delicious local meals enjoyed :) Next time, we will not hire a car. It is less stress using the local bus, car and boat services around the Amalfi Coast. 'Villa Arzilla 1' has 2 x spacious outside dining areas - and a very cool outside chillout lounge area. Definitely recommend this place. We will be returning, for sure.

Our daughter was married at Positano City Hall and we had the cocktail hour and reception at The Palazzo Murat - Couldn't fault it! We stayed for a week at Villa Arzilla 1 with our daughters and their friends. The villa consists of five apartments, our beautiful apartment had three double bedrooms sharing a long terrace overlooking Positano - fabulous view. Lovely big sitting room and kitchen, amazing private terraces overlooking the sea and Positano. The villa is about 3kms outside Positano towards Praiano, not ideal to get into town but ok once you have mastered the bus service and the stop is just outside the gates. There is parking and I did not think the Amalfi Coast road was as terrifying as I was given to believe. Everyone knows the owner, Salvadore, so easy to find your way home! No air-con which worried me but it was fine, lovely breeze from the sea and villa does not get too hot (it was 39 degs. when we were there). Ask Salvadore for insect repellents and ant spray, you have to be careful about leaving food around! You can walk down to the sea to a little rocky bay where you can swim, but it is 550 steps, made my legs shake when going down and I nearly expired climbing up but then I am pretty ancient, the youngsters managed it ok. All in all Villa Arzilla 1 is lovely, well worth the money, Rosa our translator lives in one of the other apartments there and she speaks perfect English and is really helpful and kind. Salvadore, the owner and his family live in another apartment and he speaks English and is very helpful. He took us shopping to Positano to a grocery shop owned by his sister and his brother owns Taverna Leoni just a km down the road which is an excellent pizza/pasta restaurant and take away, its walkable but he will arrange a lift home. Highly recommended, hope to stay again!

13.06 - 20.06.2009 Ciao! We, six adults and a little baby have spent a beautiful and amazing week att Villa Arzilla. We loved the breathtaking wiew from the Villa and our boys loved to snorkel and dive from the cliffs at the private beach. We also spent many hours on the large terasses. The owner and his lovely family were very helpful and kind. To meet the owners old father when he worked in his garden and talk to him by "body language" and some italian words that we could gave us so much. This was our second stay in the Amalfi coast and when we come next time we will certainly stay at Villa Arzilla again. We have had a wonderful holiday in a fabulous location. Thank you! Our regards also to Giuseppe at Cutty Sark for his recommendation and help. Family Riska from Finland

An amazing week in an ideallic setting. Salvatore was extremely helpful and the restaurant nearby one of the highlights of the trip. Distance from town was not ideal but worked ok once we mastered the bus. We found the toaster, but for those of us used to instant coffee a kettle would be a lot better than a saucepan. Photos almost do the villa justice. The booking process and payment process was efficient, convenient and friendly. A wonderful holiday in a fabulous location!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Arzilla1. We found the villa very clean and the view breath taking. We certainly would stay there again if we are visiting Positano. Just small addition that could be added to the kitchen; TOASTER, COFFEE MAKER and possibly a small micro wave and extra tea towels for dishes and more utility knives. As to Positano, we loved everything about it. However, a word of caution - taxi are very expensive for very short distance. On average 20 to 50 euro. It`s better to take the local bus for 1 euro or walk if not in a rush. Some restaurants are also expensive, so better to look around. ciao
